How to Use This Calculator
- Pick an ingredient. In the Quick-convert box, choose the closest match from the list: whole milk, skim milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, brown sugar, water, fruit puree or cream cheese. Each one uses its own grams-per-cup value.
- Enter the amount. Type the number from your recipe. Use decimals for fractions, so 3/4 cup is 0.75 and 1/3 cup is 0.33.
- Choose From and To units. Pick the unit the recipe uses (cups, grams, ounces or ml) and the unit you want. Press Convert to see the answer.
- Build a recipe to scale. In the Scale an entire recipe box, add each ingredient one at a time with its amount and unit, then press Add. Each line appears in the table in grams.
- Set the scale factor. Tap 1/2x to halve, 1x to keep it the same, 1 1/2x to fit a 24 oz Deluxe pint, or 2x to double. You can also type your own number, like 1.25.
- Weigh and mix. Use the scaled gram amounts with a kitchen scale for the most accurate Ninja CREAMi base.
Worked Example
Say you have a standard 16 oz vanilla recipe that uses 1 cup whole milk, 3/4 cup heavy cream and 1/2 cup granulated sugar, and you want to make it in a 24 oz Deluxe pint. Add the three lines to the scaler: whole milk 1 cup, heavy cream 0.75 cup and sugar 0.5 cup. At 1x the table shows 240 g milk, 180 g cream and 100 g sugar. Tap 1 1/2x and the table updates to 360 g milk, 270 g cream and 150 g sugar. If you would rather measure the sugar with cups, use the Quick-convert box: 150 grams of granulated sugar converts to 0.75 cup. That gives you a balanced Deluxe base with the same sweetness and creaminess as the original pint.
Tips
- Weigh sugar instead of scooping it. A packed cup and a loose cup can differ by 20 grams or more, and sugar controls how soft your pint freezes.
- Brown sugar is heavier per cup (about 220 g) than white sugar (about 200 g), so always pick the right one in the list.
- For ingredients not listed, like yogurt or pumpkin, the Fruit puree setting is a fair stand-in because their densities are close.
- After scaling, check that the mix still sits at or below the MAX FILL line of your pint.
- Round scaled numbers to the nearest gram. Tiny decimals do not change the result.
Ninja CREAMi Ingredient Converter FAQ
Why does the tool treat milliliters and grams the same?
For milk, cream and water, 1 ml weighs very close to 1 gram, so the converter uses that shortcut. For sugar, it is less exact, so convert sugar between cups and grams instead of using ml.
Can I halve a recipe for a smaller batch?
The 1/2x button does the math, but a pint that is filled very low may not spin evenly. It is usually better to make a full pint and save leftovers for a RE-SPIN later.
Does scaling change the freezing time?
A larger Deluxe pint holds more base, so give it the full 24 hours in the freezer. Make sure the whole pint is frozen solid before you spin.
Do I need to scale mix-ins too?
Yes, but mix-ins have their own limits per pint size. Check them with the Mix-In Ratio Calculator linked below.
